MEXICO MEXICO

Well it has been an amazing few weeks of learning and getting inspiration from Mexico,

We have made quesadillas and Mexican Wrestling masks, talked about Spain, the Mayans & Revolution!!

After being inspired by the work the Zappatistas did with social media, the Lightening birds decided to do their own fb page to help stop the war in Afghanistan, check out thier link:

but the sugar makes it taste good!

Well the Lightning Birds had lots of fun trying the treats of the Kensington Market and I believe some are developing into Super tasters!!
We tried some Star Fruit, found fish of the deep, dried and otherwise, and got to see the skills of dumpling making.

We also discovered the dragon made of junk

Well it's been a scary week! Sounds of ghosts and ghouls have echoed our ears, games of sugary blood and slime filled our fingers, and calming pizza out bellies! 

The lightning birds did an awesome job at the  Halloween Games, Carving, eating, and paining- 

workshops, art and comics comics comic

 We are starting to get in the swing of exploring the city! and it's fun... 

They gained some skills in art making and collage...and had a cool workshop activity with a local artist!

The lightening birds discovered north Americas only comic book store for kids, and they did it with style... it was pretty cool!  A few have been working on their own comics, with the hope of giving it to Andrew (comic dude) to keep in the shop!

This week is full with music making with Kat and Maria, Olympic fun and the smells of fall.

Avocadoes?

Covered in nutritious vit. D and chocolate! – What more could you ask for? The lightening birds did an awesome job, mixing, measuring, messing and tasting…

The chocolate moose of rabbits and gods:

Ingredients: 1 avo,  1 cup of coco, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of coconut & wee bit of water!

Of course the one cup of coco and one cup of sugar changes depending on who is doing the pouring!

old man, meet big fat chicken

The lightening birds are making up stories left, right and up!

They made some Japanese opera masks this week, and today created personalities of grumpy old men, Awkward "weirdos", muscle warriors and big fat chickens. 

HARVEST GAMES!

Well the first round of Olympic Games went off with flying colors of red, orange, and a slight hue of magenta! There was even the smell of bonfire in the air...

The lightening birds did an awesome job doing paper bag puppets, rubbings and exploring dufferin grove market...

Oct is around the corner, and with is tastes of pumpkin, honey, and stories of ghosts and stars.

Looking forward to the magic full week ahead!

Last week fun!

The air is starting to smell like fall, looking forward to crunchy footsteps and cold noses.

Last week was full of music making, sounds, kite flying and the lighting birds have their own theme tune!!
